Meet Dr. Guevara

Dr. Guevara grew up in a family of six children with his mother and father, a small-town physician. He would often watch his father, and learned his caring and respect for patients from his father’s example. Dr. Guevara’s philosophy has always been to provide excellent orthodontic treatment in a warm, friendly, caring, professional environment.

As a teenager, Dr. Guevara enjoyed visiting the office of his family dentist. That’s when his love for dentistry and interest in orthodontics developed. He is passionate about orthodontics and providing excellent care so a beautiful smile and healthy dentition can be achieved for his patients. Nothing makes him happier than to see the excitement in the faces of his patients when they get their braces off and their confidence and self-esteem improve.

After earning his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in microbiology, he went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the LSU School of Dentistry, where he also completed his two-year orthodontic residency. In addition, Dr. Guevara was an assistant clinical professor in the LSU School of Dentistry’s orthodontic department for seven years.

Dr. Guevara has published his orthodontic research in The Angle Orthodontist, the journal of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. He is board certified and a member of the Louisiana Orthodontic Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists. He takes extensive continuing education and uses Invisalign®, In-Ovation R self-ligating metal braces, In-Ovation C self-ligating clear braces, and temporary anchorage devices (TADs).

On the personal side, Dr. Guevara and his wife are the proud parents of two, and the prouder grandparents of two. They are actively involved as members of Crossfire Church in Slidell. Dr. Guevara has been doing Christian missions for more than 25 years as the co-leader of Dos Amigos Dental Medical Missions, which provides dental and medical care to the people in the Mayan-Kekchi villages of Belize.

Dr. Guevara has a heart for the people of Belize, but when he’s not involved with work or missions, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, playing tennis, nutrition, fishing, and reading. His favorite verse of scripture is Psalms 23:2-3: “He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.”

His mission is to love, serve and care for his patients.
